Women Aren’t Funny is a feature-length comedy documentary directed by stand-up comedian Bonnie McFarlane that takes on the long-running - and ridiculous - debate over whether women are as funny as men. McFarlane turns investigative journalist, interviewing some of the biggest names in comedy about sexism, double standards, and the realities facing women in stand-up, while also documenting life on the road with her husband, comedian Rich Vos. The film features an all-star lineup including Joan Rivers, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Peretti, Colin Quinn, Jim Norton, Artie Lange, Lisa Lampanelli, Maria Bamford, Rosie O’Donnell, Dane Cook, and Patrice O’Neal, among many others. Released in 2014 by Brainstorm Media, the documentary blends interviews, stand-up, and behind-the-scenes comedy to examine who gets to decide what - and who - is funny.
